Strange Aerial Anomaly Sparks UFO Speculation In Alaska

by Roger Norquist

A strange sight Thursday morning, caused many in Alaska to wonder if an otherworldly object had crashed into the nearby Lazy Mountain.

Around 7 am, residents of the area noticed what was described as a “spiraling shaft of cloud” or “a plume of some sort from a rocket.”

The photos show what appears to be an object falling from the clouds. The object looks to be spherical and has a long trail of smoke coming from it as it appears to fall behind Lazy Mountain.

Many photos of the event appeared online and people were quick to theorize what was being seen. UFOs, a falling satellite, a volcanic eruption, and even missile attacks relating to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Many reports flooded the Alaska State Troopers causing the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center to begin a rescue operation in the event of a plane crash. A rescue helicopter flew over the region but reported finding nothing on the ground.

"Further investigation revealed that a large commercial jet was flying in that area around the time that the photos and video were taken," officials wrote.

"Troopers believe that the photos and videos showed a contrail from the commercial jet combined with the rising sun which together caused the unique atmospheric sight."

Many online are not convinced of the official’s explanation of the phenomenon but without evidence to the contrary, the event will go unexplained.
