A Boeing 737 almost collided with an Unidentified Flying Object, coming within 10-feet of the aircraft.

The event occurred in September and came to light this week because of a report issued by the UK Airprox Board (a British organization that investigates aircraft near-miss cases). According to the agency, the incident began when the 737 was approaching Leeds Bradford Airport. The pilots saw a bright light coming from an object which appeared to be moving toward them.

“The object appeared without warning and there was no time to act,” the report from Airprox read.

The airliner avoided colliding with the UFO, missing the object by 10-feet. The pilots were able to land with no further incidents. Traffic controllers informed them a police helicopter previously reported floating lanterns in the area. However, the report says, “neither of the pilots believed what they saw was a lantern.”

The Airprox Board could not determine what the object was but classify the event as an “A-level” event, indicating the highest risk assessment possible.

The most accepted theory is that the UFO was a drone flying at dangerous altitudes.
